Hi. I am an older student looking to transfer into some place decent, hence the name. I love this website because it has such good gossip on a variety of topics that would be of interest to students and parents interested in tertiary education, either for themselves or for their children. However, one thing I have noticed is that there is no serious scholarly discussion of the American education system, in terms of its goals, means, and comparative strengths and weaknesses, both on the secondary and at the tertiary level.
In my experience, the two approaches to handling something are experimental, that is to say, you try various approaches to a problem, and see what works and what fails, and analytical, wherein you explore the underlying dynamics of a problem, then apply your theoretical knowledge to a practical solution. While this website is excellent in terms of what is practical, that is to say, the experimental approach, it does not well-embody the analytical approach needed to develop a complete understanding of a system. And in my experience, an analytical approach allows you to explore solutions to an issue that are not immediately obvious or cannot be tested, so when done well, an analytical approach is superior.
