My son applied ED2 and was curious because the notification date is Monday ( a holiday) so I wrote to see when the decisions will be out. I am a surprised because they just said "early next week". Isn't that odd for a school which I am sure expected the applications on a deadline and expects students to honor deadlines to not honor the date? It's bothering me. Plus, as much as I think this school is great for him, really pretty perfect, he is getting into a LOT of schools we thought were reaches, schools significantly harder than the one he applied ED 2. I am sort of wishing now he had done regular. Our family had a real crisis at the beginning of high school that would have devastated any kid's performance. He has made an amazing recovery from that and I only hoped that colleges really will listen if you can document what happened and recovering from it. We didn't count on them listening. He had said maybe he wanted to do RD because he wanted to be able to choose after he knew, then we saw this school he loved and thought, if the ED gives an edge then he should do it. Not saying I really think we made a mistake just this deadline thing is bothering me as I was thinking... ok... Monday... that's it then we know. Seems wrong to me. Of course, I don't want to name the school. Part of me thinks if they are late it breaks the contract. I feel like that would be true if my son had been late. I should just be relieved because I know he got into one really good college he loved that I didn't really think he would get into. So, really, it doesn't matter. But I am upset. My son, he's fine.
